A Capote Coat is a full-length Cold weather jacket, or outer layer, that is made from a wool blanket. Wool is a unique fiber in that it does not lose its capacity as insulation when wet. Both pioneers and First Nations people embraced the “style” of staying warm and mobile with various styles of “blanket Coats”.
